Language Partner Program

What is the Clemson Language Partner Program?

The CLPP is a program that provides international students and scholars with an opportunity to practice English and learn about American culture with an US American volunteer on campus. However, the program is so much more than that...the CLPP is a way for both participants to learn about different cultures and to exchange views. Even more, it is about friendship, establishing connections which can last for years.

Through the CLPP, international students and scholars and US American volunteers complete an on-line sign up form and are paired off into partners. You and your partner can then meet at a time you both decides upon for conversation and discussion. This is a wonderful opportunity to make some new friends from around the world!

How do I sign up to participate?

The deadline to sign-up for the Fall 2007 CLPP is Friday, September 7, 2007 at 5 pm.

If you are an INTERNATIONAL STUDENT OR SCHOLAR sign up here.
If you are a US AMERICAN, NATIVE-ENGLISH SPEAKING STUDENT OR SCHOLAR sign up here.

What other information do I need to know?

• September 7, 2007- deadline for CLPP applications
• September 18, 2007- participants will be emailed their partner’s name and contact information
• September 18 and 19, 2007- An orientation for the American, Native-English Speaking students will be held at 12:30 pm in the McKissick Theatre, 1st Floor Hendrix Student Center
• September 20, 2007- (4:30 pm) we will have a CLPP Opening Party at Edgar’s and the Underground for you to have fun getting to know your partner and to meet others in the program (free bowling and pool will be available)

How can I fill out an evaluation of the program?

If you are a past participant of the CLPP, please fill out an evaluation to help us improve the program by going to our Evaluation Page and choosing CLPP from the drop-down menu.
