Programs and Resources
The GIC offers many programs and resources for international students and works to direct students toward other resources for their benefit. Below are links to and information about programs and resources that may be helpful for international students at Clemson. Some of these sites are related to the GIC, others refer to other areas of the university. Around the World Days provide International students the opportunity to see a unique side of American culture-elementary schools. Through this program students prepare a 30-minute presentation about their country and spend the afternoon at a local elementary school visiting with the children and teaching about their country and culture. Get more information! In Fall 2006 Clemson University joins others around the world in celebrating International Education Week. IEW is a week sponsored by the U.S. Departments of State and Education. Please visit the IEW for more information. There are many opportunities on-campus and in the community for international students and scholars to practice their English speaking and writing skills. Look here for more information about how you can take advantage of these opportunities. The office of International Student Programs has several programs in which volunteers are needed. Find out how you can get involved! Many international student organizations exist on Clemson's campus. Look through the list to find an organization that interests you. Also, be sure to note that the International Student Association is open to all international and domestic students and is a great way to meet people and get involved! This online form is set up for you to evaluate most of the general programs that the GIC-International Programs office holds. Let us know what you think about our programs and give suggestions of what you think would be helpful! Check out Office of International Affairs' website to learn about issues related to immigration, employment and other matters of concern for international students on Clemson's campus. Links of International interest. Many of Clemson's international students are also graduate students. The GSG offers many services for students and many international students are involved in the organization which promotes the needs of graduate students on-campus. The Clemson Language Partner Program (CLPP) provides international students and scholars with an opportunity for conversation with a native-English-speaking volunteer on campus. Please visit the CLPP for more information and ways to sign up. International Coffee and Tea Hours are held the third Wednesday of every month and allow a time for students, faculty, staff, and community members to come together. Individuals meet to socialize and enjoy coffee and tea along with other refreshments. The hours are held at the Roderick International House ( click here for a map to the Roderick House.)
